Your destination wedding guide

We plan it all!

Planning Destination Wedding means you’re in for a much more intimate ceremony and can basically enjoy a two for one wedding & honeymoon.

You have some important details to consider as you start planning a destination wedding .

Whether you’ve decided on a tropical celebration in the Mexico or Bahamas, or a romantic getaway in Tuscany, Italy, we will help you with every detail!

Step 1: Hire a Pro

Hiring professional like us “Compass Travel LLC”, that specializes in Destination Weddings.  Kim & I (Joanie) handle all the stress for you. Instead of spending hours on phone calls trying to overcome a language barrier or making executive decisions about flowers and the ceremony sites from miles away, you have an expert on hand to take care of it all for you.  We will take care of every detail, for a stress free wedding.

Step 2: Choose a location

Keep in mind that your destination must have all of the resources you need.  A resort must be able to accommodate all your guests. One of the most important decisions to decide is – if it will be an All Adult event or are children invited?  This will be a deciding factor which resort you choose.  Many Resorts are Adult All Inclusive Resorts, which do not allow children, but there are many fabulous All Inclusive Resorts that are family resorts.

If you are looking for All Inclusive options, the best locations are Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica,  and Bahamas.  These locations offer the best bang for your buck. They offer great packages and many free options for the couple  RE: free nights or free cocktail receptions, plus many other options. These Packages include your hotel room, reception, flowers & often photographer. Of course there are many more upgrades that are very reasonable compared to having a wedding in the states.

  • Other popular locations in the Caribbean are: Turks & Caicos, Bermuda, St. Thomas & St. Lucia.
  • Popular locations in the US: Hawaii, Las Vegas, Key West & Napa Valley/Sonoma Valley, CA  (US locations do not offer all-inclusive packages), these locations are more expensive then other countries.

Step 3: Consider your guests

Try to put everyone in one reasonably affordable resort or hotel.  If price is an issue, find a less expensive spot 10-15 minutes away.   Don’t set your date until you’re sure there’s room availability for everyone.

This is where we come in – we contact a few resorts in your chosen country and will give you a few different prices options.

Step 4: Notify Guests

This is one of the most important destination tips.

It’s important to give your nearest and dearest plenty of time to calculate if they can afford the cost of traveling to your ceremony and reception. Send out your SAVE THE DATE cards as soon as possible, so your guest have plenty of time to prepare.

Step 5: Embrace the savings!

All inclusive resorts have amazing catering, flowers & photo packages  If you’re looking into a non all-inclusive resort incorporate local blooms & serve local specialties at the reception, like carnitas in Cabo or conch fritters in the Bahamas this will cut your catering & flower cost.
